Looking on the Brighter Side of Things

The battle with my bowels has been an ongoing issue for the last five years, but after I was diagnosed with extreme lactose intolerance, I was able to control most of the problem with enzymes and a change of diet.  I have, however, developed and intolerance to tomato-based products, so my diet has even become more restrictive.  I am able to eat things with small amounts of dairy in them if I take a sufficient amount of enzymes and things that squelch the gastrointestinal problems.  As for tomato-based products, I usually end up taking a tablet of Pepto-Bismol (half the normal dose) in order to minimize the side effects.  If I would've known how many Pepto-Bismol tablets I was going to have to take, I would have invested heavily in the company.  :-)  I usually take a generic form of Pepto-Bismol, because I don't think I could afford to pay for the name brand.

All in all I have been largely successful at controlling the issues with my bowels for the majority of the time, but it seems like about every year to a year and a half I go through a period when my bowels just won't respond to anything.  Thankfully the last couple of days have been pretty decent.  So, this may signal that this time period is coming to an end, but I don't want to be too optimistic right now because it seems like every time I think I'm out of the woods, I am chopped right down.

The bladder problem I was experiencing when my Frau was here has largely disappeared, but the spasticity has tragically remained and this may become an issue in the future.  I am still fighting the ever going struggle with bacteria in my bladder, but that's an endeavor I am usually up to, so I am going to try to remain positive in that area.

I really appreciate the well wishes, but for the most part I am doing really well; it's just those little nagging things that are keeping me from getting out and enjoying life as much as I would like to.  Not to mention several personal issues, of which I am unable to write about right now.

On a completely different topic, does anyone know how to take a banner and expand it.  I used to have the software to do this, but my new computer doesn't seem to have the capability and therefore I'm not ready to set up my other Spaces blog yet.  I really can't wait to do so.

Thanks again for the well wishes and I look forward to hearing from you some more.

It seems that when it comes to the bladder and kidneys, I move from one problem to another. I've had surgery to help correct things, but am now considered to have CKD - chronic kidney disease. It took a period of renal failure to diagnose me, and now I don't have any symptoms at all! My lat CKD score was 36, and I don't even know what that means.

I know that spastic bladder is very painful and hard to control. I don't know if AZO tablets will help, but they do numb the bladder and ureathra (SP?).

Time to watch all the DVR'd stuff. There ain't nothing on TV these days!

    Take care~
    xoxo

I have had a couple (knock on wood) UTI's before and they are no fun. I had to make a trip to my pharmacy and get a drug called Pyridium (often sold under the brand name of Azo) and take it. My urine turned a weird orange color. Tears and saliva also turn a little orange. BUT it completely relieved my UTI pain/discomfort/urges. It is sooooo worth it. Next to good o'l cranberry juice... it helps.
Glad that you are doing well BP! PS... I have no clue about that banner issue. When it comes to computers and applications, I know very little. :o(

Oh, by the way, Billy - will you do me a favour? I went to leave a message for Amy just to wish her well, but her Space is closed to outsiders. Could you send on my best wishes? I'd be grateful. Hope you're doing better today.

Not quite sure what you mean by "take a banner and expand it." I use Paint Shop Pro, and I can certainly resize files, so if this will help you, let me know!

You're incredibly brave in the way you seem to deal with these things, Billy. They constantly scare the life outa me! I couldn't bear to have to put up with that lot. Hubs does. He's used to it. Hates it, but he's used to it. I'd never cope with it as well as you two seem to!

Can't help with the banner, Mate, but if you know, say, Greg Edwards, Marcus @ Microsoft, or Jeffrey, who's often found chatting with Greg and X-Evolutionist, they're a crowd of fantastic techy people who know just about everything on computery subjects. Get in touch with any of these guys. They're all good mates of mine and are well-vouched for.
